Juan Kanagui is a poet and writer living and working in New York City. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, the Nuyorican, the Bowery Poetry Club, Inner City Lights, Queens Theatre, Flushing Town Hall, and Joe’s pub, among others. His poetry was featured on the album “Aliens of Extraordinary Abilities” written and performed by the Villalobos Brothers, Inner City Times’ magazine and website, Bowery Poetry Club’s “Poet in NY” and Tertulia Latina’s night as featured guest performer.

The major themes of his work are love, alienation, politics, and the ego. He draws influence from contemporary American fiction, the NYC spoken word scene, music, and art.

Aside from his work in literature and poetry, he is the manager of the Villalobos Brothers (www.villalobosbrothers.com) and a non-profit development consultant. He received is M.S. degree in Fundraising Management from Columbia University and a B.A. in English literature from the University of California at Irvine.
